LUDIA = AI + UDL · Universal Access to Universal Design for Learning
Built to use less
LUDIA is made for focused chats with educators and learning leaders. It does not save your past chats. It does not carry old messages into new ones. Each chat stays small and on-topic.
This matters for the planet. AI tools use energy every time they answer a question. The longer the chat, the more energy it uses. Studies show that short, focused chats can use 25 to 60 percent less energy than long ones, and still give useful answers (Poddar et al., 2025).
A way to picture it
Think about a short trip across town. You could take a big truck. The truck is powerful. It can carry a lot. But for a short trip, it uses a lot of fuel.
Or you could take an e-bike. The e-bike is small. It is made for short trips. It uses much less energy.
LUDIA is built like the e-bike. It is made for one kind of chat, and it tries to use as little energy as it can. Many AI tools are built like the truck. They are big. They are ready for any job.
In line with UNESCO's guidance
UNESCO has asked AI makers to build tools that use less energy. They want AI to work well for everyone, including teachers and learners in places with fewer resources.
LUDIA is built with this in mind. LUDIA's design is informed by three UNESCO publications and a 2025 study on the energy cost of long versus short AI chats. Full citations appear below.
LUDIA is not part of UNESCO. UNESCO has not approved or endorsed LUDIA. We share these sources because they shape how we build.
