Do I need to know how to write complex AI prompts?

Not at all. We built LUDIA to be highly conversational and approachable. You don't need any special prompt engineering skills—just chat with the AI as you would with a knowledgeable colleague to brainstorm ideas and reduce learning barriers in your classroom.

Why doesn't LUDIA have Speech-to-Text input?

Protecting your privacy is our top priority. Most voice input tools send your data to third-party servers, which doesn't meet our strict security standards. We are actively searching for a secure, privacy-focused solution, but until we find one, LUDIA will remain text-based. Tip: You can use the built-in dictation microphone on your device's keyboard to speak your text into LUDIA. Just keep in mind that this voice data is processed by your device provider (like Apple or Google).

Are my messages and uploads with LUDIA private?

We collect as little personal data as possible. Here's what that means in practice:Your chat messages stay in your own browser during your session, including anything you type and any files you attach. They're cleared automatically when you close the tab, and they're never written to LUDIA's servers.Saving a chat is your choice. You can download a conversation and re-upload it in a future session — that file is yours.Your preferences, like theme and text size, are stored in your own browser, not on our servers.To generate a reply, your message travels to our AI provider, which processes it in memory and deletes it once the reply is sent. LUDIA doesn't log or retain your message content.

What about intellectual property?

We were intentional about respecting the work of others and honouring intellectual property. LUDIA does not copy full works. Instead, it shares UDL-informed suggestions, quotes only short pieces, and, when possible, points you to the original source. LUDIA also does not create specific citations or links to research studies, to prevent misattributions. Like any AI tool, LUDIA can make mistakes, so we cannot guarantee full control over everything it generates. What you create with LUDIA is your own, and so is the choice of how to use it.

Who can use LUDIA?

Accepted Answer

If you are over 18 years of age and belong to a learning community or organization, LUDIA is for you. This includes educators, administrators, coaches, coordinators, parents, and caregivers, in schools, colleges, universities, and career and technical training. You are welcome to use LUDIA and to share it with your fellow members. Please credit Beth Stark and Jérémie Rostan.  If you are a paid consultant, trainer, or an organization that offers paid professional services, you are welcome to recommend LUDIA and point people to it.
